Procrastination is an issue that plagues most people these days, even more so when it comes to making time for exercise. With how busy of a schedule people have, it can be very difficult to make any time for exercise, especially when it feels like you’ll have to sacrifice what little free time you have to workout.
Here are some tips to help give you the push you need to get into the gym and do so consistently.
Set A Plan

Have a customizable plan that works for you and your schedule. Don’t be too rigid when determining a workout schedule. Exercise should be a natural and seamless addition to your life, not a chore to “fit in”. Pick the best time that fits your schedule to exercise. If you usually have a busy schedule, it should vary each day based on your availability and should never be a set and strict time.
“Test The Waters“

There will be days where you feel highly unmotivated, with absolutely no desire to exercise. One helpful tip to combat this is to figuratively “test the waters”. This means to step into the gym/home-gym and start your workout regimen for just 5-minutes. If you still don’t feel the desire the continue, you can stop. However, more often than not, you will likely finish the entire workout. Even if you don’t finish the workout, it is better to have done something than to not have done anything at all. Just by stepping into the workout environment despite your lack of drive to be there, you start to train the mind to push through and form a positive habit that will turn into a daily routine.
Stop Overthinking

A lot of the time we think ourselves out of the gym. I’m sure you know those thoughts that come up with the endless reasons why you should skip exercising for the day. If left to flow freely, those thoughts will succeed in convincing you more often than not.
A way to combat this is to act as soon as you notice yourself coming up with reasons why you should skip the day. Immediately go right to the gym/home-gym and employ the 5-minute tactic before the thoughts spread. The more you do this, the easier it will become.
